Kate Winslet Wins $40,000 in Libel Lawsuit
Londons high court found in favor of the actress Winslet when she filed legal papers against The Daily Mail in response to a January article entitled "Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the world's most irritating actress?" which she said "hurt and embarrassed" her. 25,000 British pounds (about $40,000 in American currency) in libel damages from the DailyMail. The London newspaper had claimed that Winslet, 34, lied about her exercise routine and called her "the world's most irritating actress."

Sometime I find that these corporate news paper deserve such lawsuit against them for implying something so mean and vicious to someone who does not do anything wrong. I think that actress and actors are the one of the professions that are targeted by many media to report about their privacy and to be accused and to imply a certain ideology about a particular prominent/famous figure.
ReplyDeleteI realized that the person who wrote this article uses some propaganda techniques such as Glittering Generalities and Name-calling.
I cant believe a newspaper can be so harsh to a very talented actress, it's horrible what people can do to a person who didnt even do anything to deserve this type of namecalling. I'm happy she won this case!
